By Car

The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is just outside the pretty village of Edwinstowe on the B6034, between the A6075 and A616. Visitors using a satnav can use the postcode for the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre: NG21 9RN. However, please note the Visitor Car Park is on the opposite side of Swinecote Road (B6034) to the Visitor Centre and is signposted upon approach.

Travelling from the South

From the south via the M1, take junction 21a and then the A46 towards Newark, before heading north on the A6097, then A614 and B6034 to Edwinstowe.

 

Travelling from the North

From the north via the M1, take junction 31 and follow the A57 to Worksop, then the B6034 heading south.

Parking

There is ample parking available at Sherwood Forest and satnav users can use the postcode for the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre: NG21 9RN. However, please note the Visitor Car Park is on the opposite side of Swinecote Road (B6034) to the Visitor Centre and is signposted upon approach.

During the summer months, the car park is open 10am-5pm and in winter 10am-4:30pm.
Car parking costs £4 for non RSPB members and is chargeable for anything up to a full day, and is free for RSPB members, except during the Robin Hood Festival in August, when event parking fees apply to everyone.
Accessible car parking for disabled visitors is available adjacent to the Centre.

By Bus

The Sherwood Arrow bus service runs hourly from Victoria Bus Station in Nottingham and stops right outside the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre – with the direct journey taking approximately one hour.
Connecting Worksop, Retford and Nottingham with New Ollerton, Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and Rufford, the service runs seven days a week.

Visitors should be aware that during the Robin Hood Festival in August, the bus does not stop at the Visitor Centre, but in Edwinstowe village – a 10 minutes’ walk away.

Train

The nearest train stations are at Shirebrook (6 miles away), Mansfield Woodhouse (6.5 miles away) and Mansfield (7 miles away).

All three stations are served by East Midlands Railway’s Nottingham – Worksop line and the timetables can be found here
