Along with its beautiful country parks, outdoor activities and natural wildlife habitats, Sherwood Forest has also become known for its unusual and interesting shops. Opposite the RSPB Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, is the Sherwood Forest Arts and Crafts Centre with a variety of artists and craftspeople make and sell an array of items including jewellery, local beers and spirits, fabrics, candles and chocolate. The Forest Archer can often be seen handcrafting leather good surrounded by medieval helmets and weapons!
Just 350 yards from there is lively Edwinstowe High Street where charming independent shops, antiques centres, cafes and pubs dating back more than 700 years can be found. Look out for the famous statue of Robin Hood proposing marriage to Maid Marian!
At Thoresby Park, visitors can browse the selection of attractive shops in the Victorian Courtyard, from bespoke glass products, fashionable ladieswear and beautiful home and giftware, as well as admire artwork by profressional and amatuer local artists at Thoresby Gallery.
